A patio is only as good as what's underneath it. We start every project with proper excavation and a compacted gravel base, which matters a lot in this part of North Carolina, where clay-heavy soil can cause a poorly built patio to shift, sink, or heave within a couple of years. Ours are built to stay flat and stable for decades.
From there, you choose the look: natural flagstone for an organic, one-of-a-kind surface, bluestone for a cleaner and more formal feel, or pavers for the widest range of colors, patterns, and budgets. We'll walk you through the tradeoffs of each and help you land on what fits your house and how you actually plan to use the space.
We also plan for drainage from day one, grading the base so water moves away from your foundation instead of pooling on the surface. And if you want to build out the space further, a stone patio pairs naturally with a fire pit, a seating wall, or a covered structure, whether that's part of this project or something we add down the road.
